The connections option displays all active connections by the Empress program.

When Empress master receives a request to connect from a Empress workstation, it is verified by Empress master before permission is granted to the workstation.

If you have exceeded the maximum number of available connections the Empress workstation will be informed that the maximum number of connections has been reached and will exit.

The connections list summarises the types of connections to the Empress Master controlling program. The list details the computer name and the type of connection made. Empress Master connections are denoted with a "#" character after the computer name. All Empress Workstation connections are listed with a bracketed number specifying the windows socket connected to in Empress Master, ie Empress_1(2).

The above list has the computer named SERVER1 connected as the Empress Master program, thus listed as SERVER1#

There are four Empress Workstations connected with computers named below and the Empress Socket number they are connected:

  • EMPRESS_1 connected to socket 1
  • EMPRESS_3 connected to socket 2
  • EMPRESS_7 connected to socket 3
  • EMPRESS_4 connected to socket 4

Further detail can be obtained about the connected users by selecting, Tools, Connections Troubleshoot from the Empress Master menu.

The list displayed will show the computer name connected, date and time connection was made and the connection type, Empress or Empress Master. If a connection is listed that is not currently connected due to a network disconnection fault or similar, it can be removed by clicking on the appropriate entry, and selecting delete.

NOTE: Do not delete any entry present that is in use. If removed, the workstation will disconnect suddenly discarding any tests selected.
