Empress uses a secure operator logon system to ensure that the customised site setup can be secured from general users to prevent data variation or corruption. When Empress is started from the Windows desktop icon or Windows Start menu, Empress will perform its database checks, display the start up screens display and prompt for a user login code before continuing.
Unless a valid user code is entered into the logon screen, Empress will not be available for use. Selecting OK or pressing enter on the keyboard without a user code (user code text box is left blank) will notify Empress that no login is to be performed and Empress will shutdown. Once a valid user code is setup, Empress will prompt for a password if one is set for the user. If an incorrect password is entered, Empress will inform the operator a bad password has been entered and prompt to enter again. If five successive failed attempts are made, Empress will shutdown. After a successful login, Empress will display any global messages followed by any personal messages the program administrator has configured to display. |
